Where Are the Best Places to Live In Alabama?

Sweet home Alabama. The 22nd state in the country can be one that gets overlooked, but living in Alabama can be great value.

Alabama has a population of about five million people. These people are scattered all over the state with plenty of decent cities to live in.

So, where are the best places to live in Alabama? These are some of the places that stand out.

Tuscaloosa

One of the most notable cities to live in Alabama is Tuscaloosa. The reason it is notable is that it is home to the University of Alabama. Of course, this university is particularly famous for having an elite football program, with its games played in the traditional Bryant-Denny Stadium.

It has a population of about 100,000 people, so it is one of the larger populated cities in the state.

There are also some nature escapes in this city such as Lake Tuscaloosa and Moundville Archaeological Park. For those looking for a more cultural experience, you can go to the Kentuck Art Center and the festival along with it.

Auburn

Another city in Alabama that is famous for football is Auburn. Auburn University is located in this city and it is named after the city.

The football culture is big in this city as well, with the Auburn Tigers playing in Jordan-Hare Stadium.

Of course, football is not the only thing to do in this city. Some activities besides that in Auburn are Jule Collins Smith Museum of Fine Art for a cultural experience, Toomer’s Corner to separate the main city from the Auburn University campus, and Kiesel Park for a nature escape.

It is another well-rounded city and it offers something to do for every type of person.

Mobile

Located in the southern half of the state, Mobile is one of the most prominent cities in Alabama with its heavy port presence for that area’s job market in Alabama.

Mobile is also a city that offers a lot of history such as the USS Alabama, the Fort of Colonial Mobile, several museums, and more.

On top of this, like the cities above, Mobile does offer some small nature escapes such as Mardi Gras Park, Bayfront Park, and Meaher State Park.

Birmingham

Finally, one of the biggest cities in Alabama is Birmingham. It has a population of about 210,000 and it has a wide variety of things to do.

In sports, the city hosts the Birmingham Bowl in college football on an annual basis.

On top of this, it has botanical gardens, state parks, art centers, science centers, and more. It also is the home of the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
