#Roommates, the ongoing popularity of unexpected food collaborations has reached new heights—and this time, it centers on two beloved brands…Pepsi and IHOP. It was recently confirmed (via social media announcement) that both Pepsi and IHOP would officially be teaming up for a brand new soda that turns up the sweetness a couple of notches.
In the era of viral food and drink collaborations, Pepsi and IHOP are aiming to set the world on fire with their just-announced team-up. @FoodAndWine reports, in a limited-edition giveaway, Pepsi and IHOP are bringing fans a new concoction in the form of Pepsi Maple Syrup Cola. The drink is described as bringing together “the indulgent flavor profile of maple syrup with the crisp, refreshing caramel notes of a Pepsi.” The outside of the drink can features maple syrup dripping from the top along with a tiny stack of IHOP signature pancakes.
As for how you can get your hands on the Pepsi Maple Syrup Cola, well it definitely won’t be in the traditional way. Since you can’t buy it in the store or at IHOP locations, the only way to try the syrupy sweet soda is to enter into a social media giveaway. From now until March 29th, fans can attempt to get their hands on a can by posting to Instagram or Twitter, a photo or video of a stack of pancakes, tagging @IHOP and adding the hashtags #ShowUsYourStack and #PepsiSweepstakes. From there, 2,000 winners will receive a can and one special fan “will also be surprised with a custom Pepsi Spout, inspired by the iconic IHOP syrup pitchers, that will produce the perfect pour to enjoy Pepsi Maple Syrup Cola,” according to a press release.
Speaking about the collaboration, Kieran Donahue, Chief Marketing Officer of IHOP, expressed his excitement. “At IHOP we celebrate our history of bringing folks together and providing a sense of togetherness, belonging and joy when they dine with us. We are thrilled to partner with Pepsi to have some fun and create a moment for our guests to bring home an additional source of happiness with this limited-edition Pepsi Maple Syrup Cola,” he said.
Similarly, Pepsi’s Chief Marketing Officer Todd Kaplan said that “it isn’t often we get to bring together two iconic brands to satisfy the cravings of pancake and Pepsi lovers alike.”
