We lost Gilbert Gottfried today. The stand-up comedian and actor with a singular voice died of heart failure but he won’t soon be forgotten. Gottfried rose to fame in the ’80s as a comic who stole scenes in movies like Beverly Hills Cop II, Problem Child, and Look Who’s Talking Too. At comedy clubs he honed his trademark screeching, pissed-off persona. Fellow comedians loved him. And he became a family favorite when he voiced Iago the Parrot in Disney’s 1992 classic Aladdin. Gottfried left a mark, and the world of comedy and other celebrity friends remembered him in kind.
