Rishi Kapoor has left behind a legacy of work that spans decades. Starting as a child actor, he is perhaps one of the very few actors who have been on-screen through the pre-teenage, teenage, adolescence, adult, and mature stages of his life. The nuanced actor has won over a million hearts with his characteristic charm. Following his unfortunate demise, Kapoor’s fandom has a chance to witness his exemplary acting skills in Sharmaji Namkeen.
To honour his legacy and to give the immortal actor a fitting tribute, the Bollywood film industry came together to recreate his famous song Om Shanti Om. The video stars Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Aamir Khan, Arjun Kapoor, Farhan Akhtar, Tara Sutaria, Vicky Kaushal, Siddhant Chaturvedi, Aadar Jain, and Ananya Pandey. They can be seen dancing to the popular steps of the cult-favourite song. The tribute video is directed and choreographed by Ganesh Hegde.
The Bollywood drama, directed by Hitesh Bhatia marks Rishi Kapoor’s posthumous appearance. Ranbir Kapoor, who is currently promoting Sharmaji Namkeen also talked about his father’s first reaction when he came to know about the cancer diagnosis. Rishi Kapoor had to leave for treatment in the US, but his initial reaction was ‘What about Sharmaji Namkeen?’ Even when he was admitted to the US for treatment, he would keep asking questions about the movie.
Sharmaji Namkeen will be released on March 31 on an OTT platform. As Rishi Kapoor couldn’t finish the film, Paresh Rawal decided to take up the challenging role, performed by two different actors. The movie also stars Juhi Chawla, Satish Kaushik, and Suhail Nayyar.
