The Best Place For Couples in Tirunelveli

Tirunelveli is an ideal destination for couples seeking to spend quality time together. Its winter season starts in December and continues until February. A romantic getaway in this city will leave a lasting impression on you and your significant other.

Courtallam Waterfalls

Courtallam Waterfalls is a 520-ft high waterfall located in the Tirunelveli district. Its cooling water is refreshing to dip in. The place is also known for its oil massages. The falls are open around the year. Monkeys and peacocks are a common sight. However, the best time to visit is post-monsoon, when the water is at its lowest.

There are several other places to visit in Tirunelveli. For example, the twin temples of Kanthimathi & Nellaaiappar are pretty old and worth a visit. Another exciting place to visit is the Golden Lily Tank, which features a hall of 1000 intricately carved pillars.

Papanasam

If you’re looking for a romantic getaway in the city, Papanasam is the place to visit. This picturesque location is close to Tirunelveli and is a local favorite picnic spot. The area is lush and filled with dense flora. The area is also known for its many waterfalls and temple dedicated to Lord Shiva.

There are many places to stay in Papanasam, including beach and river resorts. Some resorts are located on islands, away from the big cities, making them very secluded. There are also unique cultural influences from the local population, which makes the cuisine at these places unique.

Agasthiyar Falls

The Agasthiyar Falls is a fantastic sight with a continuous water flow. This waterfall is fed by a dam and receives water during the South-West monsoon from May to September. Visitors can visit this beautiful waterfall and see the surrounding hills at sunrise and sunset. While visiting the falls, remember to keep your eyes peeled for monkeys.

Agasthiyar Falls is located in the town of Papanasam, about 60 kilometers west of Tirunelveli. The waterfall is open to the public from 9 am to 5 pm. To get to the Agasthiyar Falls, you must drive uphill from the temple.

Vettuvan Koil

The Vettuvan Koil is a temple dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva. It is situated in the panchayat town of Kalugumalai in the Thoothukudi district. The temple was built in the 8th century CE and is constructed in the style of Pandyan and rock-cut architecture.

The temple is a beautiful example of artwork and a sculptor’s paradise. Located on the edge of a hill, it is carved with images of the Gods and Goddesses. The temple is not entirely completed, but the top portion is adorned with sculptures of Brahma, Vishnu, and Uma Maheswarar.

The sanctum Sanctorum and the arthamandapa are the two parts of the temple. The prastaram is a kabocha style, with niches for various deities. The Vimana is built on two tiers: Kodikarukku on both levels and Maiya karukku on the top. The Nasi food is another highlight of the Koil.
