The Best Orlando Itinerary for Your Family Vacation

Now that we’re getting over the pandemic, more people are visiting Florida’s city of Orlando in 2022. Are you planning a big Orlando vacation? We don’t blame you. From the theme parks to the beautiful weather, Orlando is one of the best tourist spots in the country.

There’s so much to do in this big city — it’s easy to get overwhelmed. That’s why the best course of action is to create an Orlando itinerary.

From Disney to downtown Orlando, here’s everything you need to do in O-Town.

Days 1-5: Disney World

It’s no surprise why Disney is number one on our list: Disney is one of the best things to do in Orlando. You’re likely in Orlando to hit the theme parks, and you should first cross off Disney. With four parks and a plethora of rides and events, Disney will bring magic to any vacation. But it’s best to plan your Disney trip in advance.

If you’re traveling with kids, the Magic Kingdom is the park to choose. Adults will love the bars and restaurants at Downtown Disney. Epcot also has great adult activities, such as drinking around the world. MGM Studios is perfect for movie lovers, especially Star Wars fans.

What if you want to see all of the Disney parks? You’ll want to plan your Disney trip for at least five days, ensuring you have plenty of time to hit all parks and events. Read more here.

You don’t need to be at Disney for this long, this is just a recommendation for those who want to visit all parks.

Days 5-8: Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure

The next popular park in Orlando is Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure. Both offer entertainment-themed rides and events. The two parks are connected for convenience.

These parks are best-known for their Harry Potter-themed activities and rides. You can take a tour of Hogwarts, party at Hogsmeade, and ride the Hogwarts Express between the two parks.

Universal Studios is perfect for guests of all ages. Both parks offer plenty of kid rides and attractions for families, such as Seuss Landing. If you’re solo traveling or want activities for adults, you can eat and drink at both parks and party at CityWalk, the downtown area that connects both parks.

You should plan for at least three days if you’re making a Universal vacation itinerary. Feel free to book your trip for fewer days if you won’t be going to both parks.

Day 9: Pool Day

After all of these theme parks, you’re likely tired. It’s time to relax under the sun! But if you want a beach day to finish off your Florida vacation, you’re out of luck. Orlando is located in Central Florida, which means there are no close beaches. The closest beach is New Smyrna, which is an hour from Downtown Orlando.

That doesn’t mean you can’t soak up the beautiful weather. Instead, have a pool day. Make sure the hotel or BnB you stay at has a pool!
