Work is not always hectic, sometimes you do have a lot of fun too. Looking back to her days in Bollywood, Somy Ali remembers a funny incident that happened on the sets of one of her films. The actor turned humanitarian, who now runs her NGO, No More Tears, says unadulterated laughter is the best therapy for our mind and body.
“It was during the shooting of Anth (directed by Sanjay Khanna) that I wore a sari for the first time. Now, as a Florida girl, I mostly wear jeans and t-shirts, from there to sari was not easy. I remember it was the pink sari song in Anth with Saroj ji (Khan; choreographer) and Suniel (Shetty; actor). At some point the sari was on the floor with me being completely oblivious to the fact until Saroj ji pointed it out, and we were laughing till our stomachs hurt. She then helped me put it back on and continued filming,” she laughs softly.
For Somy, humour is a way of life. “If you can’t make fun of yourself or laugh at yourself, then you need to do a thorough scan of your ego. To make mistakes is human; to stumble is commonplace; to be able to laugh at yourself is maturity,” she adds.
