Ray J Apologizes To Brandy For Poor ‘Verzuz’ Performance And Says He’s Ready For A ‘Ray-demption’

Ray J has apologized for not living up to his sister’s exacting standards.
Last week, the singer performed during the pre-show of Mario and Omarion’s “Verzuz” battle but his poor vocals had even his sister Brandy trolling him online.
Appearing on Global’s “The Talk”, Ray J addressed the criticism of his performance, telling the hosts, “You know, I had my baby in my arms… and I was just having too much fun and tequila… and my sister had a whole plan for me that night. I was supposed to drink tea and I was only supposed to stay in one place for the whole performance.”
Asked about his sister’s trolling comments on Instagram, Ray J laughed, “I tried to delete that… I love my sister because it’s so important to make sure you perfect your craft as much as you can and give the world a good show. I mean, I entertained though, but as far as the vocals, I have a lot of redeeming to do.
“She’s hard on me on this, so it’s not redemption, it’s Ray-demption. I apologized to my sister right on the spot… right after I hit the note I apologized.”
Natalie Morales asked, “You haven’t talked to Brandy since?”
“B, I’m sorry,” Ray J responded, addressing Brandy directly. “I know you know that I’m good at singing and I promise you, I’m not gonna let you down, okay?”
After the performance, many on social media lambasted Ray J for his performance of his classic “One Wish”.

“I missed a few notes on that, but I was holding my son. Y’all gotta excuse me for that,” the singer himself said after finishing the song. “I’ll make up for it…I heard it, too.”
Memes quickly went viral, joking about Ray J’s voice, to the point that he posted about it on Instagram.

In the comments, Brandy got in on the fun, knocking him for deleting her comments, and suggesting reasons his voice may not have been quite up to snuff.

“Since we deleting comments, I will comment again! Bro, Pops told me that you didn’t drink none of the tea I made for you,” Brandy wrote. “He also told me that you were talking all day when I specifically said NO TALKING and only drink water and the special tea I made for you at 4 in the freaking morning. Caught!”
She added, “If I had one wish, you would listen to your big sis sometimes and especially for Verzuz. SMH. When I get off of vocal rest, we are gonna have a serious conversation. And I’m gonna screenshot this comment in case you try and delete it again — and I will post again.”
So far, Ray J hasn’t responded to his sister.
