New York Tech’s Fork in the Road Food Truck

New York Tech now offers students, faculty, and staff the opportunity to enjoy “cuisine on wheels” with our food truck.

The truck is a fixture at summer festivals and public events in Aroostook County. Private catering requests are also increasing. Fork in the Road serves up a wide variety of menu items.

Menu

Fork in the Road is a culinary program for Club teens, where they learn about kitchen management and operations, including food preparation, menu development, budgeting, supply chain management, inventory control, and customer service. The teen team operates the mobile eatery, serving various foods to the campus community.

From burgers and fries to specialty sandwiches, pizzas, and more, Fork in the Road offers a variety of delicious choices for students, faculty, and staff. In addition, the state-of-the-art “cuisine on wheels” is available to cater on-campus events.

Whether it’s the live music scene of Austin or film festivals in Marfa, two former Austinites are hitting the road to share food, dreams, and art. Lulu Dyess and her business partner, fashion stylist Hunter Lohse, are touring East Texas in their Fork in the Road truck, an innovative food trailer. The pair has partnered with local wineries and restaurants to bring their unique brand of “culinary escapades” to audiences across the region. In the process, they’re helping to empower a younger generation of chefs and entrepreneurs.

In addition to their food truck service, they also teach Levels Two and Three of the culinary program in the Club’s new state-of-the-art kitchen. The culinary program teaches teens how to create menus, balance budgets, manage a supply chain, and more. The Club culinary team is committed to serving quality foods and fostering the development of the next generation of chefs. Special Events

LANSING – Jesse Hahn, owner of Fork in the Road, has reached a fork in the road. He will either close the restaurant at 2010 W. Saginaw St. or cut wages, increase food prices, and rely less on Lansing-area farmers. The reason is money, not a lack of customers or a disinterest in his menu of sandwiches, salads, and desserts made from bread and vegetables grown in Holt, Owosso, and other nearby communities. Hahn is struggling to pay a federal income tax lien that he said hit him in May.

The restaurant is open daily from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Fork in the Road is also home to the flagship culinary program that trains Club teens in levels two and three on the truck and the new state-of-the-art kitchen. The training includes learning to create menus, balance budgets, manage supply chains, and more. Graduate students receive a SERV Safe certification and are ready to work in any commercial kitchen.
