Is Colloidal Silver Safe? Everything You Need to Know

Did you know that silver has been used to safeguard human health in a variety of ways for over 2000 years? For example, in 1913, Dr. Crooks claimed that colloidal silver is highly germicidal, non-toxic to humans, and anti-viral.

But since the invention of antibiotics, colloidal silver isn’t used as pervasively as it was before. You might be wondering, is colloidal silver safe? And how much colloidal silver is safe to take?

We have all those answers here in this brief guide for you, so keep reading.

What Is Colloidal Silver?

A colloid, in general, is a mixture of two substances. In the case of colloidal silver, it’s when tiny particles of silver are floating in a water solution.

What Is Colloidal Silver Good For?

Colloidal silver is used as a dietary supplement by many folks, even though its usage has declined significantly since the advent of antibiotics and the modern medical industry.

The thing to remember is that neither scientific evidence nor the medical community support the use of colloidal silver for any medical condition or ailment.

Also, if you end up using colloidal silver for some disease or condition, like acne, you will want to inform your doctor beforehand. This way, you don’t end up with any negative interactions between your medicine and the colloidal silver.

How Much Colloidal Silver Is Safe to Take?

Colloidal silver dosage varies depending on the age of the recipient and the ailment that is being treated.

For health maintenance purposes, adults can take 10 ml of colloidal silver twice a day, whereas children should take only 5 ml twice a day (morning and night).

If suffering from a particular ailment, adults can take 20 ml four times a day for two days, then 20 ml twice a day for two days, finally reverting to the maintenance dose (above). Children can take 5 ml four times a day for two days, then 5 ml three times a day for two days, finally reverting to a maintenance dose.

Of course, you should always test the effects of colloidal silver on your particular constitution before taking higher doses of it. Try a smaller dose for a day or two to see how your body feels. If it feels fine, then you can slowly increase up to the highest dosage.

Is Colloidal Silver Safe for Kids and Adults?

The wise person says to take everything in moderation. And this applies to colloidal silver as well. Even though the FDA hasn’t approved colloidal silver, it’s still used as a dietary supplement by many folks in America, some of whom have been taking it religiously for years.

Is colloidal silver safe? Be careful with the dosage and don’t go over the highest recommended dosage. Also, you should always consult with a doctor before taking any new medication or supplement.
