Huma Qureshi Takes The Internet By Storm With Her First Look As Tarla Dalal

Ever since the first look of Huma Qureshi as Tarla Dalal came out, I’ve been left smitten. Apart from her hairstyle and saree, it’s the twinkle in her eyes and smile which so reminded me of Dalal who I have grown up watching. But I ain’t alone, the day the first look of Huma as Tarla was unveiled, netizens and Huma’s peers, couldn’t stop praising the actress and the excitement level has reached sky high. The audience also has been praising her for her ability to sink into characters because people haven’t gotten over her stellar performance in Maharani yet. Moroever, Huma had another show, Mithya and a film like Valimai post that. Clearly, the actress has been slipping effortlessly into such varied characters and subjects.

Talking about getting into Tarla’s role, Huma said,

“This is the role of a lifetime for me. Tarla Dalal is someone we’ve all grown up watching. Our mothers are fans of her simple and charming home style dishes. For me, coming from a Family that enjoys food (Qureshi’s family owns a thriving Restaurant business in Delhi and Dubai), the story is close to my heart. It is not just about food and how it touches the soul but a common woman’s ability to realise her big dreams. It is an inspirational tale that I hope will strike a chord with everyone in India. Usually women are told all they are good for is cooking; here’s a lady who took that and turned it on its head.”

Dalal who is a Padma Shri awardee and a cook-book author is known especially for her Gujarati cuisine and I hardly know of any mother who doesn’t know of Tarla Dalal. Because she’s won several hearts and made such a place for herself in every household, I’m sure essaying Tarla Dalal’s role in this biopic would be a challenge for Huma. But considering the first look and how talented Huma is, I’m totally hoping her to hit it out of the park with this role and make it her career-best performance.

The film will be directed by Piyush Gupta and is produced by Ronnie Screwvala along with Nitesh and Ashwini Iyer Tiwari. I’m so looking forward to the film which has gone on floors last week.
