In December 2021, 45% of Americans traveled, and almost 6% of them went to a different country! Now that we’re coming out of the pandemic, you can bet more of us will be booking vacations overseas.
Looking across the oceans, Greece is a fantastic getaway, with great views and weather.
US travel to Greece can be an ordeal though. But if you plan right, it can be an unforgettable experience. Read on to find out how you can prepare for your Greece vacation!
Let’s start off with things you don’t need so you won’t have to worry about them. Greece has no vaccine requirements, so if you’re unvaccinated for COVID, you can still visit. You’re also exempt from showing a negative test if you have a COVID certificate.
Also, if you’re wondering, “can US citizens travel to Greece without a visa,” then the answer is yes! So long as you’re staying 90 days or under, then you won’t have to spend extra time and money applying for a visa.
Obviously, you’ll need your passport. Not only that, but you’ll need 1 page per stamp, so 2 total for entry and exit.
It should also have at least 6 months of remaining validity. Greece actually only requires 3, but if you’re going to another country that requires 6, then you want to plan ahead.
While you don’t need a visa to visit Greece, they can still deny you entry if they suspect you’ll overstay 90 days. Because of this, you need to show that you have a return plane ticket and other evidence that you’ll leave Greece as planned, such as a job, mortgage payments, etc. You’ll also need to show you have sufficient funds for your stay (you can show credits cards if you’re not planning on using money in the bank).
US Medicare isn’t accepted overseas, so make sure you purchase a good travel insurance plan. That way, if you get injured or sick on your trip, your bank account won’t be drained.
Even though Greece is allowing unvaccinated people to enter, it’s probably best to get vaccinated if you aren’t already. While most businesses are open, you can only enter if you have proof of vaccination. So the unvaxed will have little to do in Greece.
Also, plan for all inclusive holidays if you can. These packages will include things like airfare, hotel stays, tours, and even meals. Needless to say, this can take a lot of stress out of planning your vacation!
US travel to Greece can be an exciting experience, starting from the moment you step foot in an airport. So long as you prepare ahead of time, and pick the best time to visit Greece, you’ll be chomping at the bit to fly overseas once again!
