A survey was done not long ago to determine how many Americans consider themselves regular exercisers. To many people’s surprise, less than 23 percent of those surveyed answered that they exercise regularly.

You are in good company if you try to make exercise a habit. The problem is that there are so many things to do, and most of us only have a limited amount of time to complete our daily tasks.

So how do you fit in your workouts? The truth is, you have to plan and prioritize. Read on as we share our top tips on how to make exercise a habit so that you can fit healthier living into your busy life.

Find an Exercise You Love

It can be challenging to find the motivation to start exercising, but once you find an exercise you love, it can be much easier to make it a habit.

Don’t force yourself to run if you don’t like running. Whether it is playing tennis, going for a swim, or taking a dance class, find an activity you enjoy and look forward to.

Once you find something you enjoy, it will be much easier to build a workout routine that you love, and you also need to hire a personal trainer that you trust.

Create a Goal

To make exercise a habit, you need to create a goal. That goal should be something you can realistically and excitedly achieve.

Once you have your goal in mind, you need to design a workout plan to make it happen. That plan should include when and where you’ll exercise, what type of exercise you’ll do, and how you’ll stay motivated. Stick to your schedule; soon enough, exercise will become a regular part of your routine.

Start Small

If you’re struggling with how to make exercise a habit, start small. Schedule a short walk around the block on your lunch break, or commit to 10 minutes of yoga in the morning. Once it becomes part of your routine, you can gradually increase the duration and intensity of your workouts.

Find a Partner

One of the fun ways to exercise is finding a partner. A workout partner can help keep you motivated and accountable. When you have someone to work out with, you are more likely to stick to your workout routine.

You can also have more fun working out with a partner. If you find someone who shares your fitness goals, help each other stay on track and boost each other’s motivation for exercise.

Make It a Priority

If you make exercise a priority, it will become a habit. You will look forward to it because it will be a scheduled, non-negotiable part of your day.

It will be something to look forward to because it will be a time for you to focus on your health and well-being. Schedule it into your day, just like any other necessary appointment. Set a time for it and stick to it.
