Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 star Kartik Aaryan reacts to comparison with Akshay Kumar

The full-length trailer for the much-anticipated horror-comedy Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 finally arrived today. Starring Kartik Aaryan, Kiara Advani, Rajpal Yadav and more, the Anees Bazmee directorial is a reboot of the 2007 film Bhool Bhulaiyaa. While the original featuring Akshay Kumar and Vidya Balan garnered a cult status, the upcoming film inherently banks on nostalgia and comes with a major recall of Kumar’s portrayal of Dr. Aditya Shrivastav. Aaryan is aware of the comparisons that are bound to follow and his take on fan reactions makes sense.

At the trailer launch event ahead of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2’s release, Kartik Aaryan who is set to take on the role of Rooh Baba opened up about the comparisons. As per a leading news portal, he said, “I can’t compare because it’s too big a shoe to fill. I had loved him (Akshay Kumar) in Bhool Bhulaiyaa 1, and have grown up watching him. It’s better not to compare, I love him as an actor. We have tried our best to do it our way. But this is a new film, lot of new elements. Comparisons will happen, but I hope Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 will be remembered as a new film.”

We are weeks away from the release of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 but anticipation around the film remains high, especially with Rajpal Yadav reprising his role as Chhote Pandit. The film also features Tabu, Sanjay Mishra, Rajesh Kumar, Milind Gunaji, Amar Upadhyay and more. The film arrives in cinemas on May 20.

Earlier, Kartik Aaryan had also shared the film’s freshly-launched trailer in a post captioned, “I’m coming to get you Manju.” After Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 he is attached to star in Shehzada and Captain India among other upcoming titles.
