Anushka Sen wins Best Actress for Rahat Kazmi’s film ‘AM I NEXT’ at Desiblitz Film Fusion held in UK

Rahat Kazmi Film Studios and their group have had a lot of success this year, with their recent big presence at Cannes for two film launches with Hina Khan and Helly Shah, and their previous releases ranging from Wishlist on MX Player to Lihaaf and Lines on Voot, as well as six more films with Shemarroo. Am I Next has been screening at festivals all over the world, and Anushka Sen just received the best actress prize at the BFI-backed (Desiblitz Film Fusion) festival in Birmingham. Not only that, but the picture was also the festival’s closing film, and it was shown to a crowded theatre with enthusiastic applause.

Anushka Sen, who made headlines for her outstanding performance in Khatron ke Khiladi Season 11, is back in the spotlight, but for a different purpose this time! The film is based on the true tale of a young rape victim who had to fight a protracted legal battle to abort a pregnancy caused by rape. Because the legal system forbids a youngster from terminating the pregnancy, the issues grew until the court issued a landmark decision.

Internationally acclaimed filmmaker Rahat Kazmi, who has directed AM I NEXT says “When Kritika Rampal (The writer) came with this story to me, I was so moved with it that I decided in a moment that this story needs to be told to world, for Anushka it was quite challenging and emotionally draining character, but she has done it with utmost confidence! The film is Produced by Rahat Kazmi Film Studios, Tariq Khan Productions, Zeba Sajid Films in Association with LoopPool films Singapore, Co Produced by Piku Arts Singapore and Mumta D’Suza Films. The film is also co-written by Shalini Bhada and Ritu Rajput, whereas there are veteran actors in prominent characters like Swaroopa Ghosh, NSD Veteran Neelu Dogra, Pankaj Khajuria, Rajiv Rana, Pooja Dargan and Monica Aggarwal!
