Anees Bazmee works his magic yet again at the box-office as Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 collections continue to rise

While Bollywood filmmakers are struggling to bring audiences to the theatre this year, director Anees Bazmee is continuing to work his charm at the box office. When Priyadarshan directed the prequel Bhool Bhulaiyaa in 2007, the film made about 49 crores at the box office and stood at number 8th in the highest grossing films of the year. The same year Anees Bazmee’s Welcome was released and it made 70 crores at the box-office and stood at number 2 of the highest grossing films of 2007.

Interestingly after 15 years, Anees Bazmee is back with Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 and his directorial is continuing its magnificent run over the second weekend and it has already been declared as super-hit. It is only the third bona fide Bollywood box office hit of the year, after Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Gangubai Kathiawadi and Vivek Agnihotri’s The Kashmir Files. It has brought some breather to the Hindi film industry, which has had a tough year in terms of box office performance until now.

Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 features Kartik Aaryan, Kiara Advani, Tabu and Rajpal Yadav among many others. It enjoyed a big opening on its first day of release as it collected 14.11 crores. It was the biggest opening of any Hindi film this year, beating other projects like Gangubai Kathiawadi and all other biggies. It has become the second biggest earner of the year 2022.

Film trade analyst Taran Adarsh has shared that the horror-comedy is doing good business even on the weekdays. He recently wrote on Twitter, “#BhoolBhulaiyaa2 continues to trend extremely well on weekdays… Crosses *lifetime biz* of #GangubaiKathiawadi… Second highest grossing #Hindi film, after #TKF… [Week 2] Fri 6.52 cr, Sat 11.35 cr, Sun 12.77 cr, Mon 5.55 cr, Tue 4.85 cr. The film is expected to hit Rs 150 crore by the end of this week. The film could end its run at the theaters with a collection of Rs 175 crore.
