Tom Brady Details Why He Reversed His Retirement Plans

Tom Brady has explained why he reversed his plans to retire.
“I decided to talk with my family and I said, ‘I think I wanna do this one more time if you guys will support that.’ And my wife was so supportive of it and she said, ‘Look, I want you to be happy. I want you to enjoy it and go out there and win.’ Ultimately, that’s why I came back, to win,” he told Complex. “There’s only one reason to play for me at this point in my career. And that’s to win.”
Last week a report claimed Brady is only returning to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after his deal to become a minority owner of the Miami Dolphins and join the team’s front office fell through.
Boston Globe reporter Ben Volin reports that Brady’s role was said to be similar to Derek Jeter’s role with the Miami Marlins.
Brady retired at the beginning of the year.
“I try to make the best possible decision I can in the moment, which I did this last week. And, again, I think it’s not looking to reverse course. I’m definitely not looking to do that,” he said on the Let’s Go! podcast. “But in the same time, I think you have to be realistic that you never know what challenges there are going to be in life. Again, I loved playing. I’m looking forward to doing things other than playing. That’s as honest as I can be with you there.”
