5 Simple Tips for Increasing Employee Productivity

Did you know that employee productivity drops in the summer heat? Too many business owners are managing their employees as if they were robots or automatons without internal motivations or aspirations.

Running a business involves learning how to boost employee productivity using many different tips and tricks. If you are wondering what those tricks are, keep reading so you can have more productive employees.

1. Share the Big Picture View With Them

Don’t treat your employees like little children who don’t need to know any of the bigger details of the business and where it’s going. Treat them like part of the family – inform them about the big picture view and the future vision of the business.

If the vision is exciting enough (which it should be), then the employees will feel that much more inspired about working on their projects. They won’t just feel like a cog in a wheel.

2. Offer Incentives Sparingly

Don’t offer incentives all the time and without discernment. Incentives used sparingly and at the proper time can motivate your employees and boost business efficiency. You could use a cash bonus as an incentive, but an experience like a pizza lunch or a fun afternoon out works better.

3. Ask Them for Their Opinions

The big picture vision for the company shouldn’t be created in isolation or without the feedback of all the employees involved. When employees feel like their voices are heard, it’s more likely that they will feel motivated and inspired to do a better job at work.

Ensure you get feedback from the employees on all aspects of the business. Make it a co-creation process.

4. Let Them Know When They Are Doing a Good Job

Everyone loves feedback, praise, and acknowledgment of a job well done. It motivates us even further. That’s why you should inform your employees when they are doing a good job.

One thing that can help you with this is having tools for measuring success. This way, you and your employees will know exactly when their goals are being met and when they are falling behind.

5. Make Sure They Have the Proper Equipment to Work With

It might be a tad expensive to do this. But it’s important to ensure your employees have all the tools and equipment they need to do their job properly.

This way, they are not going to fumble around with their tasks. This also means making sure that their workplace is ergonomically set up and asking them for feedback on what other tools would make their job easier.

Boosting Employee Productivity Takes Time

When managing employees, you have to remember that nothing happens quickly or easily. It’s a matter of trudging away at your goal of boosting employee productivity. And in time, you will realize your goal of productive employees.
