[ad_1]

Amazon Prime Day is a two-day sales event where Prime subscribers can find hundreds of exclusive deals on products available through the online retailer, though there are lots of other discounts for nonmembers. This year, Prime Day is set for July 12 and 13, but you can already get plenty of slick deals on some of our favorite stuff. From Amazon Fire-enabled TVs and speakers to third-party devices, here are some of our favorite early Prime Day 2022 deals

Be sure to check out our Prime Day Tips guide for advice on saving money and vetting deals.

Updated July 8, 2022: We’ve removed expired deals and added new discounts on Amazon devices, streaming sticks, and more.

TV and Streaming Deals

TCL 6-Series

It might not look like a deal at first glance, but this is the lowest price we’ve ever tracked for this 55-inch model. (It dipped to this price for the first time in the middle of June.) This is our favorite TV for most people (9/10, WIRED Recommends). It has a quantum dot panel for bright colors and utilizes local dimming zones for deeper blacks in your movies and shows. It has a built-in Roku interface, and the Micro-LED backlighting delivers exceptional contrast.

This price just recently dropped to its lowest ever. This is one of the prettiest TVs we’ve tested. The bezels are super slim, the OLED panel is fantastic and delivers deep blacks and rich colors, and it has an Android TV interface, which means you can also cast to it from your phone. It has weird feet on the ends, so it’s best to wall-mount it unless you have a large TV stand.

This is a basic, entry-level TV from Hisense, but we like the brand and trust its build quality, unlike some of the other generic Amazon TVs we haven’t tested. You get Dolby Vision High Dynamic Range support (read: prettier colors) and Fire TV built in for streaming your favorite Amazon shows.

Hisense U8G

This price is just $2 more than the lowest price we’ve ever seen on this set (from earlier this past June). The U8G (8/10, WIRED Recommends) has a sleek design, an Android TV interface, and a raised stand to fit a soundbar underneath. Its excellent local dimming translates to great contrast with the quantum dot panel, and you also get a 120-Hz screen refresh rate. Pair it with a PC with an AMD card to make use of the AMD FreeSync support for smoother gaming.

If you’ve been shopping for a larger screen, this is one of the best discounts we’ve seen on a 65-inch model in months. It comes with Fire TV for easy streaming and Amazon shopping, plus full-array local dimming means black levels and highlights will look better than on cheaper screens. It’s a Prime-exclusive deal, so you’ll need to be a subscriber.

Everyone should have a soundbar. The Streambar combines Roku streaming capabilities with a 14-inch Dolby speaker. Even though it’s best suited to smaller rooms and TVs, the Streambar will likely make a big difference in the audio quality of your binge-watching experience. There’s even a Night Listening mode that’ll quiet down action movie explosions so your Game of Thrones rewatch won’t disturb sleeping housemates.

Roku Streaming Stick 4K

There are newer and slightly fancier versions of this streaming stick on the market, but the Roku Streaming Stick 4K is still a great option. The Roku interface is one of our favorites, and conveniences like voice control and volume buttons add to the list of reasons why we recommend Roku for most people. Just keep in mind that, while this is a good deal, it’s one that we’ve seen before.

This Roku falls in the middle of the brand’s expansive device lineup, and it fills a gap that your TV may or may not have. It’s capable of displaying 4K content in HDR10 on compatible devices. If your TV mentions Ultra HD or High Dynamic Range (HDR), it’s probably one of the models that would benefit from this streaming stick. Aside from better resolution compatibilities, the Express 4K Plus features voice search and onboard TV controls. This is one of the lowest prices we’ve seen.

This basic streaming stick doesn’t have a ton of bells and whistles—there’s no voice search, onboard volume control, or 4K compatibility. What it does have is the cheapest price tag we’ve seen thus far. Roku gadgets go on sale quite frequently, but if you’re on a very limited budget or you haven’t upgraded to a 4K TV yet, there’s no reason to fork out extra cash. Our guide to the best Roku devices has additional details and recommendations.

Amazon Device Deals

Some of these are exclusive to Amazon Prime members, and there’s a good chance they’ll get cheaper when Prime Day begins. The deals are part of a larger sale on Amazon devices. For additional advice, read our Best Kindles, Best Fire Tablets, and Best Streaming Devices guides.

Amazon Echo Dot (4th Gen)

I love Echo Dots (8/10, WIRED Recommends) more than just about any other smart speaker. They’re small, sound pretty darn good, and work perfectly for sleep sounds, timers, and a quick check of the weather. Last Prime Day, the price dipped as low as $25, so this is one of the lowest prices we’ve ever seen. Be sure to read our guide on how to make your Amazon Echo as private as possible.

The newer 2021 edition of the Kindle Paperwhite is the best Kindle for most people, but the older generation is still solid—and, thanks to this discount, $50 less. The 2019 version lacks USB-C charging and the improved display of the newer counterpart, but it does still feature a backlight and adjustable warm lighting. Read more about it in our in-depth review. This deal brings the price down to just $5 higher than we saw on Prime Day last year. The Kindle for Kids is also on sale. Note: There’s a chance the newer versions will go on sale when Prime Day begins, so keep that in mind if you’re in the market.

There’s a newer, more expensive generation of this device available, but this is still a capable option for folks that prefer Alexa to Google Assistant. At half off, it’s worth shelling out the extra $20 for a bigger display compared to the smaller and cheaper Echo Show 5 (mentioned below). The Show 8 is relatively compact, but there’s enough screen to allow for the fun and frivolous features of a smart display, like viewing recipes or song lyrics. The price is $5 lower than we’ve seen before.

Echo Show 5

We generally prefer Google Assistant smart displays to those with Amazon Alexa, and we prefer the larger, more expensive Echo Show 8 to the Echo Show 5. In our review, we said the Show 5’s display is a tad too small to perform some of the tasks most folks would want. It’s still a good display for a nightstand or desk, but if you want more screen real estate, it’s not the best option. The physical mute button and camera shutter are nice, especially since privacy is crucial when dealing with smart devices. This deal brings the Echo Show 5 down to $10 cheaper than we’ve seen before. Read more about it in our Best Smart Displays guide.

This is the lowest price we’ve ever tracked for Amazon’s fitness tracker. Reviews editor Adrienne So says it’s comfortable to wear, though it recommends you strip to your underwear to measure body fat composition. It can do the usual fitness tracker functions, like tracking steps, heart rate, sleep, and blood oxygen levels.

This is the best price we’ve seen for the most basic Fire TV Stick. It streams in HD, but not 4K. The interface will feel familiar to folks that have used other Amazon smart devices. The remote features Alexa voice control as well as power and volume buttons. If you’ve got a 4K TV, it’s worth waiting until Prime Day begins to see if the Fire TV Stick 4K goes on sale (it usually does).

More Tech and Home Deals

Fully Jarvis

This is our favorite standing desk, and it doesn’t drop in price often. The bamboo top is elegant, the motor is reliable and smooth, and you get up to four height presets. There are a ton of other customizations you can make, though that will increase the price.

WIRED editor Adrienne So calls the Apple Watch SE (8/10, WIRED Recommends) the best Apple Watch for most people, which makes this a solid time to snag it at a discount. It doesn’t have all the health features of the high-end Apple Watch Series 7 (also on sale for $329), but it has most of the ones that matter on a day-to-day basis. Read our Apple Watch guide for more details.

The Fitbit Charge 5 (8/10, WIRED Recommends) is our favorite fitness tracker. This is the best deal we’ve tracked—in fact, the discount brings the price down to match the older-generation Fitbit Charge 4. The Charge 5’s bright display and variety of sensors allow for easy tracking of basically every metric you could think of, from basics like step count all the way to heart rate and sleep. Read more about it in our Best Fitness Trackers guide.

Fan of Google hardware? We rounded these up in a separate story earlier this week, though several deals have already expired. Of the remaining discounts, highlights include the Pixel 6 for $571 ($28 off), Pixel 6 Pro for $823 ($76 off), and the Nest Wifi Router for $110 ($59 off)

MacBook Pro 16 Inch With M1 Pro

Photograph: Apple

Yes, technically Apple has announced a new MacBook Pro with the M2 chip, but this pricier MacBook Pro from 2021 and its M1 Pro processor are actually much more powerful. This is the machine for anyone who needs to do some serious CPU-intensive tasks, from photo and video editing to 3D rendering. It dipped $50 lower in April, but this is still a great deal. This machine has plenty of ports, including HDMI, and a 1080p webcam. Read more in our Best MacBooks guide.

This is our top Chromebook pick. The Core M3 processor should suffice for most people, and it’s perfect for anyone who can work entirely off the Chrome browser (though Android apps are available via the Google Play Store). This is a 2-in-1, so you get a 14-inch touchscreen and can put it in “Stand” mode for bingeing Netflix when you’re done working.

The Pixelbook Go is getting a little old, but it’s still an excellent, no-frills laptop. This has a Core i5 processor, so it’ll fare even better than the above pick, especially if you frequently have more than 30 Chrome tabs open. Read our Best Chromebooks guide for more details.

This model isn’t featured in our Best Bluetooth Speakers guide, but we generally like JBL products. The compact Go 3 is designed with portability in mind. The rugged construction is resistant to water and dust, making the speaker a good companion for hiking or beach trips. Most colors are discounted. This price matches the lowest we’ve tracked. More JBL speakers are on sale here.

Special offer for Gear readers: Get a 1-year subscription to WIRED for $5 ($25 off). This includes unlimited access to WIRED.com and our print magazine (if you’d like). Subscriptions help fund the work we do every day.
